It started in a dusty garage in 1988, at my parent‘s home, with two turntables, a RadioShack mixer and some old 12" vinyl records. The love of music and DJing at house parties became a life long love. This love has taken us behind DJ booths at night clubs all through out Los Angeles, San Fransisco, San Diego and Tokyo, Japan. We have also shared the most special of moments as wedding DJs too many couples through out the years. We are here to share our love for music and bringing that same level of excitement and fun to your wedding receptions and private events. We love hearing the vision for your dream wedding reception celebration and perfectly executing that vision for you and your loved ones.
We also have extensive experience in sound reinforcement and event lighting. With our expertise your event will not only sound good it will also look great. Lets make your special day exceptional.

What types of events are your specialty? All performers available through Late Night DJ are true professionals. Weddings and special celebrations are our passion as a company and make up over 90% of the business booked. The only other types of events we do are high-end corporate events, which typically require a similar professional approach and excellent attention to detail, and upscale private parties. Late Night DJ does not book children’s parties.
How would you define your “style” or approach to providing DJ entertainment?
Our performers’ presentation is polished and understated, marked by creative seamless mixing and a professional approach to announcements and microphone work. Many DJs and Emcees think that it is their job to put on a show and be the center of attention at every event. We believe firmly that your guests are not attending your event simply to see the DJ and Emcee, and we have no interest in turning your event into a side show. Your dance floor will be packed, but it will be because the DJ selected the perfect songs and mixed them perfectly.
How do you mix the music?
Mixing is a pretty basic skill for a professional disc jockey, but how a DJ does it says a lot about his or her style. Our DJs mix music for the purpose of creating high-quality seamless transitions between songs and maintaining the energy and momentum on the dance floor. Mixing for us is something we do on the spot, based on the tempo and “feel” of the songs and the reaction of the crowd.
Do you use “old school” vinyl turntables to DJ events?
We use both vinyl turntables or digital controller per client preference but it is recommended that digital controllers be used to assure reliablility due to risk of record skipping when using turntables.
Do you use party props?
No. we firmly believe that props take away from the actual celebration and just becomes a distration, so we do not provide props.
Do you offer additional services, such as lighting and photobooths?
Yes all of our packages include uplighting but we do not provide photo booths. We concentrate on what we are good at and that is DJing. We do have partners in the photo booth business that we can refer you to.
Can you play music that is not typical wedding music?
Absolutely! We can customize your playlist in anyway you like. Tradition is good but variety is better and we can assist you with creating your perfect playlist.
How involved are you in helping us to plan our music?
Just as you pay a caterer for their expertise in food, you are paying us in large part for our expertise in music. We are more than willing to provide you with a multitude of suggestions based on your preferences, and we’re perfectly comfortable selecting most (or all) of the music if you aren’t interested in doing so.
How involved can we be in selecting music for our event?
We encourage you to be as involved as you would like to be! Most of our clients place great value on music and probably have very distinct ideas about what they want to hear. If you would like to select every song, we are happy to accommodate you. The majority of our couples, however, prefer to discuss with their DJ, in depth, their preferences and at least a few specific requests.

Our standard package for weddings includes 4-6 hours of performance time (additional time is available at a prorated hourly cost), setup time, breakdown time, and ALL equipment, including additional sound systems and wireless microphones for weddings with up to 250 guests. For weddings over 250 guests, a custom quote is necessary to ensure your event’s equipment and staffing needs are met.

What are the terms of payment if I book your services?
An industry-standard, 50% nonrefundable reservation fee is due with your signed agreement. We happily provide you with a 7 day courtesy hold on the DJ’s calendar in order to give you time to meet with the DJ and make a decision. The remaining balance for your wedding is due 30 days prior to your event. All payments are made via credit card.
What do you require from my event site?
We require at least one 6-foot banquet table, with linens, and adequate power (120-volt, 15-amp circuit on a grounded outlet) within 25 feet of where the DJ will be set up. If your event will occur in multiple spaces (such as a wedding ceremony in another area) then your DJ will need another table and access to electricity in those areas as well. Talk to your DJ about any additional areas that need sound coverage and they can advise you on exactly what they need to make it happen.
Are you insured?
Late Night DJ carries a full liability insurance policy for each performer with a coverage value of $1,000,000. We are happy to provide you or your venue with a copy of our insurance policy upon request.
How do you dress for an event?
Our performers’ typical “uniform” is a professional, dark business suit with tie and appropriate accessories – we want to blend seamlessly into the background of any dance floor photos. If a tuxedo or other attire is required for your wedding, you may need to pay for a rental – we’re happy to wear whatever is appropriate for your event!
When do you arrive to set up for an event?
Our performers always arrive on-site at least an hour and a half prior to the contracted start time of the event, and earlier as necessitated by the setup requirements of your event.
What kind of equipment do you use?
Our performers use the highest quality professional-grade equipment available: Serato DJ Pro computerized DJ systems, Pioneer, Vestax and RANE mixers and controllers, QSC, speakers and Sennheiser, or Shure microphones.
